Toyota Tanzania Ltd, the country’s leading automobile distributor, officially launched the new Landcrusier 70 Series range at an exciting function at the Kilimanjaro Kempinski Hotel on Friday May 4th 2007.

Speaker at the launch, Juma Simkoko, General Manager of Toyota Tanzania Ltd spoke about the history of the Karimjee family in the automobile business in Tanzania. The Karimjee family established the Motor business in 1927 in Zanzibar. They were appointed Toyota distributors in 1965 and since then have made substantial new investments in showrooms, modern service centers, parts warehouses, manpower training and customer relations systems.

He went on to announce that Toyota Tanzania have been awarded the top Service award of all Toyota Distributors in Africa by TMC - The Customer Service Prize for Excellent Achievement 2006. Further testimony to the strides and improvements TTL have made in after sales development & customer servicing.

He added that the company has an unparalleled network of 3 branches and 16 dealers throughout the country.

The Guest of Honor Honorable Makongoro Mahanga MP, Deputy Minister for Infrastructure Development complimented Toyota Tanzania on their achievements over the years and highlighted the long-standing and trusted relationship between the Government and TTL.

The launch of the new Landcrusier 70 Series will be a significant achievement in the history of Toyota Tanzania Ltd as the Toyota Landcruiser Hardtop and Landcruiser Pickup models have been Tanzania’s most popular new vehicle sellers for many years.

Furthermore, they are key vehicles for Government and project fleet users and have contributed to Tanzania’s development and growth over the past 40 years due to their reliability, strength and power.

Toyota Tanzania have introduced a new 4x4 Hardtop 5 Door model and updated the existing Hardtop 12 & 13 seater and Pickup.

Each of the 3 new modes set new boundaries for durability, safety and performance with 3 world class-leading product benefits:

1. Strength, Durability & Power

  • The new 70 Series has been enlarged with one of Africa’s sturdiest suspensions and frames built to handle and endure the toughest terrains.
  • Rear limited slip differential (LSD) for increased traction and performance control particularly when stuck on rough roads.
  • Ample ground clearance of 230+ mm adds to the invincibility of the 70 Series enabling it to power through any harsh road and 700mm depth on water.
  • Duel fuel tank capacity of 180 litres for the Hardtop 3 door and the Pickup up dramatically increasing the distances the vehicles can be driven.
  • Each of the 3 models in the range comes with a 4.2 litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine.

2. Improved Styling

  • The front exterior of the Hardtop 3 door and the Pickup have been restyled to add an element of breadth and modernity.

3. Tailor made Tanzanian Fleet Specification

  • Power door locks and power windows as standard.
  • Has roof rack to carry goods and luggage.

So in a world of harsh environments and testing conditions survival of the fittest is fundamental and with the 70 Series you need not worry. They are the ultimate ‘workhorse’ vehicles that do a job and do it well, day in day out, wherever you are.

In the words of Toyota’s advertising campaign, ‘The legend lives on’ in Tanzania with the launch of the new Landcrusier 70 Series.
